Prima Zaria 2011 collection of genuine leather handbags and small leather accessories – AccessoriesTheShow, NYC May 4-6, 2011

STELLA’S STORY:

With aspirations to become a manga artist, Stella Chang grew up with abundant creativity and artistic passion.  At age 19, however, while studying video installation with Peter Campus and Kathe Burkhardt at New York University, she fell in love with fashion, and thus began to channel her talent in a new direction.

Stella has since designed handbags and small leather accessories for notable brands such as United Bamboo, Malini Murjani, artisic director of Isabella Fiori, Wako Kimono of Japan, Mocca of Italy, and Jewel Box and Farrco founded by Hiroshi Mizuki.

She is now solely dedicated to Prima Zaria.

“The One and Only Star…”

Background

Founded by artist Stella Chang in 2010, Prima Zaria Inc. is an independent branding company that designs, develops, and sells fashion accessories and apparel properties. We are dedicated to creating a fashion alternative for women who appreciate high-end fashion that is affordable, collectable, and timeless beyond seasonal trend.

Design Concept & Direction

Our product lines consist of genuine leather handbags and small leather accessories, and we are looking to expand to computer accessories and ready-to-wear apparel in the near future.

Each collection tells a visual story through the exploration of unique artistic applications juxtaposed to contemporary design motifs.  Striving for creativity and originality in every design, Prima Zaria utilizes a unique blend of classic styles and silhouettes with innovative embellishments to create unique, versatile pieces.  Such features include origami on leather, silk screening printing, and manga style illustration married to such underground fashion elements as Gothic Lolita, or the artistic influence of Georgia O’Keefe’s paintings.  Our target audience is Generation Y females (22-38 years old) who utilize social media regularly; “Info Age” fashionistas who can appreciate a hybrid aesthetic of American and Japanese pop cultures.

The Look

Feminine, sophisticated, and avant-garde with a twist of quirk and cuteness.

COLLECTIONS:

Georgiana

Prima Zaria is kicking off the summer with our Georgiana Collection, which is all about love and coquetry in teal and pastel pink!  With a variety of styles (including tote, shoulder bag, cross body satchel, and evening clutch) made from genuine, custom dyed lambskin, Georgiana bags add a fun, lighthearted touch to any summer ensemble.  This collection was inspired by a fascination with Georgiana Cavendish, the Duchess of Devonshire, whose fierce, unique sense of fashion truly made her stand out.  Natural ruffles provide movement and grace, and a Nina bow on the front panel of each bag conveys the naiveté and vulnerability of feminine disposition.  The look is finished with silkscreen printing of black and white manga illustrations.

Lola

Our second summer collection is Lola, which provides a modern twist on regency fashion with natural drapes, twist chains and black lace overlay.  With strapped bow embellishments and genuine lambskin in beautiful bone and pink colors, Lola bags are the perfect bold and flirty supplement to any wardrobe.  The darker accents of chains and black lace balance the classic shapes and colors of this collection with edginess and intrigue.  Lola’s unique, layered look embodies an eclectic vibe that is ideally suited for the spontaneous nature of summer!

Black Iris Without Black

Transitioning into fall, our Black Iris collection is bringing fashion back to basics: grey and mauve tones, quality craftsmanship, and an understated elegant look inspired by the beauty of Georgia O’Keefe’s “Black Iris” paintings.  We’ve all seen and loved Valentino’s handbags with their signature flower appliqués.  As a fresh visual exploration of this ever-popular floral motif, Black Iris bags feature origami techniques on leather to create a sophisticated, dynamic look.  Constructed from custom dyed 2-tone genuine lambskin, this collection is simultaneously subtle, feminine and powerful with its innovative yet effortless beauty.  Black Iris bags come in numerous styles, including satchel, cross body box, and oversized clutch.

Victoria

We finish the season with Victoria, a darker collection that truly captures the majestic nature of winter with its glistening metallic detailing.  These bags get their namesake from the Victorian era of fashion, which is signified by form and corsetry.  Patent leather is combined with custom made cow leather to create sophisticated, structured shapes, juxtaposed with delicate, laser cut floral patterns and hand painted, shimmering gold dusts.  The resulting look is a strong but graceful silhouette that will hold its own during colder, flurry-filled days.
